I have been contacted by Stephen George this week who served with the Troop form 1989 until its disbandment in 1995.

No doubt many of you remember him as I believe he is still in contact with many Ex-Troop members.

I am at present in contact with the Imperial War Museum in an attempt to see what pictures are available from our past. I have already posted a few in the Albums section but I am hoping that there are many more to come.

If any of you have any suggestions for the website please don't be backwards in coming forward.

Kind Regards Bob

Former Member David Gordon

GeneralPosted by Bob Woolnough Wed, July 18, 2012 13:06:04
I have this week been contacted by David Gordon, son of the late S/Sgt David Gordon who sadly passed away on 24/06/12.

S/Sgt David Gordon Joined the Mounted Troop in 1958 after completion of his training and served with S/Sgt Ernie Scattergood and Sgt Bill Griffiths, as they were at that time.

During his service with the Troop his two main horses were 'Dennis' and 'Sam'. He served on the display team and competed in many competitions winning many trophies. Notably he was placed first on five occasions at the Royal Tournament.

He also competed in Show Jumping, Cross Country, Tent Pegging, Sword, Lance and Revolver.

Hi son David has many pictures etc which he has kindly promised to let me have copies of, which I will then place into David's own album.

David left the Troop in 1974 on his promotion to S/sgt.

New Pictures

I have this last couple of weeks uploaded some new pictures kindly donated by William Brown an ex-Mounted member, who has also kindly remembered the where and when they were taken along with some of the names.

I managed to obtain a copy of the 1955 RMP Journal Centenary Supplement this last week from which I have also posted some interesting pictures going back to 1855.

Hi and welcome to the News spot.

I have been receiving more pictures from former members rcently so the Albums section is starting to grow. If you have any pictures or stories from your time in the Mounted I would be most grateful for them. The purpose of this site is to build a history which is available to all for posterity.

Now that the Mounted has passed into the annals of history we are the last of those that served so I would like to build an historic picture for those who follow us to give them a reference to learn what life was like working and playing in such a tight knit community as ours was.

I would especially like to thank George Woodall who has written two books now on the history of the Mounted which are available from the RHQ shop. The second book has only just been finished and released this year.

I would like to thank all of those people who have contributed so far and those who have yet to do so.

If you have any suggestions for the website then please let me know.
